Today we started the day at Lady Liberty. It was so cold and windy on the boat but we took some amazing photos. The boat included a lot of information about the city we did not know about. For example, we learned about the new restoration of the city since Hurricane Sandy hit. There is still a lot of damage from the storm, but the city will rebuild and get better. The government is putting about 50 billion dollars into improving the new city which included 3.8 billion of it going to the World Trade Center memorial. We also had a view of the Manhattan skyline, which included the new World Trade Center and the Empire State Building.
For lunch today we went to Times Square for shopping and a traditional New York hot dog. A New York hot dog includes, sauerkraut, relish, onions, ketchup and mustard. We did a lot of shopping today and spent our money very wisely.
The serious part of the day was the United Nations, but it was also one of the more interestesting parts of the trip. We split up into three groups with three different tour guides. Our three tour guides were from Malaysia, South Africa, and Senegal. They were amazing to listen to because they gave us a lot of information about poverty, education, and what the United Nations is doing to help these global problems. The General Assembly actually met on short notice so we had a chance to see diplomats in action. A lot of us sent postcards to you because the United Nations has their own postal address. So look out for a postcard in the new future.

Future Diplomats??? |
One of our group members turned 18 today and we celebrated at Bucca de Peppa. Everyone signed a birthday card for him and the staff at the restaurant sang him happy birthday, but their own version. It was quite a surprise for him!!!
After dinner, we all danced the night away in the Broadway Show Mamma Mia. A lot of us knew the songs and we had a blast watching the show. It was a great conclusion to our adventures in New York City!!!

The tears will come tomorrow as we say "see you later" to one another because we never know when we will see each other again. Maybe it is next week or twenty years from now, but these last couple of days have been amazing. Until tomorrow, when some of us head home and some of us continue onto Washington DC!!
